If you would love to fit in one more trip before the end of the year but avoid the biggest holiday crowds, I have it!
I am sharing this journey again because it is such a wonderful sailing, promotional rates are still available, and we have a few spaces remaining.
From November 17–24, 2026, the group will sail aboard AmaWaterways’ AmaSerena from Amsterdam to Basel on the Rhine Castles & Swiss Alps itinerary. While this is a Soaring Spirits International journey, you do not need to be widowed or have any previous connection with the organization to join the group. You can simply come because you would love to experience the Rhine at this festive time of year, while also supporting the wonderful work of Soaring Spirits.
And what an itinerary! Travelers will visit Cologne, with its magnificent cathedral; sail through the Rhine Gorge, lined with vineyards and medieval castles; explore Rüdesheim and Heidelberg; and spend time in Strasbourg, where French and German influences come together among canals, half-timbered buildings and the charming streets of the Petite France district.
This special “Taste of Christmas” sailing brings the Rhine to life with festive decorations, seasonal traditions and visits to Christmas markets as Europe begins celebrating the holidays. It is a lovely time to travel: the holiday spirit has arrived, but the biggest Christmas market crowds have not.
The group will be hosted by Michele Neff Hernandez, founder and executive director of Soaring Spirits International. Michele has an extraordinary ability to bring people together, and I truly value my partnership with both Soaring Spirits and AmaWaterways.
One of the things I love about AmaWaterways is the choice of included excursions. Travelers can select the pace and experience that suits them, from guided sightseeing to more active walking and biking options. Regional food and wine, excellent service, and plenty of time to enjoy the passing scenery are all part of the journey.
Travelers can also add time in Amsterdam before the cruise or continue afterward with an extension to beautiful Lake Como.
