A Classic Rhine River Cruise for September 2027

The Rhine is one of Europe’s most beautiful and popular rivers, and for good reason. Castle-crowned hills, vineyard-covered slopes, medieval towns and cities shaped by centuries of history unfold right outside your window.

I have reserved group space aboard AmaWaterways’ AmaViola for the seven-night Enchanting Rhine cruise departing September 5, 2027. Sailing from Basel to Amsterdam, the itinerary travels through Switzerland, France, Germany and the Netherlands.

Along the way, you can explore the canals and architecture of Strasbourg, visit Heidelberg with its imposing castle and historic Old Town, and experience Rüdesheim in the heart of the Rhine wine region. One of the highlights will be sailing through the UNESCO-designated Rhine Gorge, where more than 40 castles and fortresses line the riverbanks.

AmaWaterways includes a choice of excursions in many ports, with options designed for different interests and activity levels. You might choose a traditional walking tour, a more active hike or bike ride, or an excursion focused on the region’s food and wine. All meals aboard the ship, wine and beer with lunch and dinner, Wi-Fi, a complimentary specialty restaurant, and a Wellness Program are also included.

AmaViola carries only 156 guests, creating a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. Many staterooms feature AmaWaterways’ signature twin balconies, with both a French balcony and a separate outside balcony.

AmaWaterways’ ships are also designed with a relatively shallow draft, the portion of the ship that extends below the waterline. This allows them to continue sailing in lower water than many deeper-draft vessels. No river cruise line can eliminate the effects of unusually high or low water, but AmaWaterways has considerable experience adapting when conditions require it, using itinerary adjustments, sister ships or overland transportation to keep the trip moving as smoothly as possible.

This group space is open to anyone who would like to sail at this time. There are no planned group activities or expectations that everyone travel together; you can simply enjoy the added savings and amenities available through the group.

I will always offer the best promotion available at the time of booking, along with an additional $75 per person onboard credit available exclusively when booking with me.

September is a wonderful time to experience the Rhine, with comfortable weather, fewer summer crowds, and vineyards approaching harvest season. If this sounds like a cruise you would enjoy, please reach out for the complete itinerary, current stateroom availability, and pricing.
