From Bangkok to the north and down to the coast, what made this trip special
I am just wrapping up time in Thailand, and it has been one of those trips that truly stays with you. There is an energy here, a warmth, and a sense of place that is hard to fully capture until you experience it firsthand.
If time permits, seeing multiple regions of Thailand gives you a much deeper perspective. Experiencing both the north and the south allows you to understand how different each part of the country feels, and why the combination makes the journey so rewarding.
We began in Bangkok, where the pace is fast, vibrant, and full of life. At the same time, the temples and the Grand Palace are extraordinary, offering moments of beauty and reflection right in the middle of the city’s bustle.
From there, we traveled north to Chiang Rai and Chiang Mai, where the experience shifts. Here, you see Buddhist monks woven into everyday life. We had the opportunity to participate in a traditional food offering to the monks and receive a blessing, a meaningful moment that deepened our connection to Thai culture.
In Chiang Mai, two experiences stood out. Our cooking class at Grandma’s Cooking School, led by Chef Jimmie, was a highlight. He was hysterical and made the entire experience unforgettable. We also visited an elephant sanctuary that was thoughtfully run and focused on responsible interaction, which made it especially meaningful.
We ended in Krabi, where, after the busy cities and daily touring, time to relax is key. The beautiful beaches provide the perfect setting to slow down and take it all in.
Thailand works for all ages, families, couples, and solo travelers alike. It offers strong value, a wide range of experiences, and a depth that continues to surprise even seasoned travelers. I now have firsthand experience to guide you to the best itinerary and would love to help you plan a great Thailand trip!
Warmly,
Lisa
